Cherry class is a Key Stage 1 class with children coming solely from year 2.  The class teacher is Mr Wood and the teaching assistant is Mrs Naylor.

Spring Term 1 2024

This term in English we will be working on a book called Traction Man. It is an amazing story all about superheroes and what it means to be one. This will include writing a voice over, a letter and many more fantastic things. Children will explore punctuation and grammar as well as carrying on their guiding reading and looking at the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' (which is Mr Wood's absolute favourite story).

For P.E this term, we will be exploring games and gymnastics. Children should remember to bring suitable footwear and uniform with them.

Our geography topic is looking at Africa. We will be learning specifically about the Massai Mara and the cultures, animals and many other things that you can find there.

In music, we will be looking at rhythm and how we can create and understand that across a variety of instruments.

In science, we will cover the idea of light and dark, with a focus on how it affects and can change plant life.

RE: Islam.

PSHE: Dreams and Goals.

ICT: Coding.

Online Safety: Safer Internet Day focus.

Our PE days continue to be Tuesday and Friday.  Please make sure that a full PE kit is in school on both of those days.  As the weather can be quite random at this time of year, please make sure your child has suitable clothing to keep them warm outside.
