We have an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant headteacher to join us at Saxmundham Primary School. This is a new role to support the learning and pastoral needs of our pupils as well as some class teaching (0.4 FTE.)

Saxmundham is a 315 place school with a new Nursery added in 2022. We operate mixed year group classes in most years and serve the immediate community with many children walking to school. We are looking for someone to work closely with the school and Trust leadership teams to secure the best practices and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement journey. Currently judged by Ofsted as Good, the school has implemented a number of new systems and schemes designed to secure high standards as well as ensure that the wider needs of our school community are met. Our ideal candidate will work to ensure that these are fully and effectively implemented as well as respond to the day to day needs of the children and organisation as well as being a positive and welcoming force in the school.

We are looking for a leader who:

• is passionate about teaching and learning and is able to motivate and inspire pupils and colleagues
• is a positive and welcoming presence in the school and works effectively with all stakeholders
• has proven experience of effective phase and subject leadership
• understands the importance of shared culture within a school and knows how to promote this for the benefit of all
• is an excellent class practitioner
• has high expectations in all areas of school life
• is able to manage a team through a balance of support and challenge to secure best practice
