Juniper

Juniper class is a KS2 Year 5/6 mixed class taught by Mrs Stockwell-Jones, Mrs Alexander and Mrs Montgomery.

Autumn Term 2023

This term in English we will be working on a book called Oranges in No Man's Land. This will include writing a newspaper report and a short story based on a section of the book. Children will work on their reading comprehension, all linked to Oranges in No Man's Land, as well as looking at the vocabulary and grammar used throughout the book. Later in the term, we will move on to looking at a story called Rose Blanche. Throughout the term, we will continue to develop reading skills, learn more grammar and spellings along with developing a neat, joined handwriting style.

For the first time, Forest School will now be a whole class activity and forms part of the PE curriculum. Each of the 5/6 classes will have two half terms across the year where they spend an afternoon a week taking part..

Our history topic is looking at the Maya and Aztecs. We will look at their culture including areas such as the geography of the land they lived in, diet, rituals, buildings and sports they enjoyed.

In science, we will cover a short topic on light and then a longer area of work on animals including humans.
