Summer Term 2, 2025
This term in English we will be working on a lovely book, 'Gregory Cool' by Caroline Binch (set in the Caribbean). We will analyse the language, make inferences and predictions and create our own pieces of writing based on this 'fantastic' book. We will build on this learning in guided reading where we will be looking at an inspiring book called, 'Young, Gifted and Black' and have a specific focus on VIPERS (vocabulary, inference, prediction, explain, retrieve and summarise).
In Maths we will continue to work on number skills but will also be looking at decimals, geometry and data handling skills. Year 4 children will be completing the statutory times tables check.
For P.E this term, we will be exploring athletics practice and striking and fielding games, including cricket. Please make sure PE kits are in school every day; we are now in our summer kit which should be shorts and t shirt with trainers. Hats are also a good idea.
Our History topic is looking at the Anglo-Saxons. We will be using both primary and secondary sources to learn about this civilisation and having some hands on experience to really dive deep into this topic.
In Music, we will be having special weekly lessons with Mrs Head on the recorder.
In Science, we will be exploring the digestive system and deforestation. We will conduct a number of experiments to deepen and support our understanding of the digestive system and encounter a number of case studies in our deforestation learning.
