Poplar
Poplar class is a Key Stage 2 class with children from year 4 and 5. The class teacher is Mr Robinson and the teaching assistant is Mrs Eves. Mrs Rowe will be teaching RE in Poplar Class.
Spring Term 2026
We will start by looking at writing our own endings in English, followed by writing newspaper articles and then poetry. Our VIPERS book is called Skychasers, an exciting adventure book that was written by Emma Carroll. Even if you are tempted, please do not read this before we read it together in class - there are many other fabulous stories by this author if you want to read something by her at home.
In maths, we will continue to focus on improving our arithmetic skills, using appropriate methods for all 4 operations. As always, we will be working on knowing our times tables and using these to help with our mental methods. We will also be looking at fractions, decimals and percentages as well as measurement, including converting between different units of measure.
Our PE days will be Monday (hockey) and Wednesday (gymnastics). Please ensure that a full PE kit is in school on both days with suitable clothing for both inside and outside lessons.
In science we will look at properties of materials and the human life-cycle.
Art will be creating an art installation whilst in history we will be learning what life was like in Tudor times, the monarchs and who reigned before and after the Tudors.
In computing we will be learning to write a program with commands, in French we will be learning numbers, months of the year and family. In RE we will learn about how Brahman and Atman influence Hindu lives.
Our PSHE will focus on family and relationships
Year 4 will continue to learn to play the ukulele with Mr Robinson while Year 5 will have Mr Courtney for brass lessons.
Here's to another fantastic term.
